Essex DIY four piece SuperGlu made a splash last year when their music was played on BBC Radio 1, receiving the stamp of approval from Huw Stephens. The band’s newest 7″ is self described as “bubblegum pop” and “garage rock,” with an earnestly bright twist heard prominently in their newest single “Diving Bell.” Having worked with Transgressive producer David Pye, their sound holds the rawness of british punk while incorporating strong pop sensibilities via soaring and intertwining vocal harmonies.
Their newest single has the garage-y guitar tones of bands like Twin Peaks, Eagulls, and Soda Bomb, but the whistling and vocals of lead singer Ben Brown and Krista Lynch together add listenability and a pop flair that lightens the sound in comparison to the aforementioned bands.
SuperGlu is Ben Brown (Vocals/Guitar), Alex Brown (Backing Vocals/Guitar), Krista Lynch (Bassist/Backing Vocals), Benjamin Ward (Drums/Backing Vocals). Their newest release, with singles “Diving Bell” and “Latvian,” is out April 27th via Antigen Records.
